Nan Sterman is co-producer, co-writer, and on-camera host of A Growing Passion.  Nan is a seasoned journalist who has reported on horticulture, agriculture, and gardening in San Diego for close to 20 years, including the last 10 years as “garden guru” for KPBS.   For more than a decade, Nan has been a garden columnist for the San Diego Union Tribune.  Her current monthly column, The Water Wise Gardener, along with monthly garden “to-do’s  are specific to the region’s climate and weather.

Prior to that, Nan  served as garden editor for San Diego Home Gardens Lifestyle Magazine. She continues to contribute to national publication such as Sunset, Better Homes and Gardens, and other publications as well.  Her debut book, California Gardeners Guide vol II is the only book about low water, climate appropriate gardening written for California gardeners.
Nan’s insider status gives us access to a myriad of stories and behind the scenes opportunities to see whose tending and what’s trending across San Diego and beyond.

Marianne Gerdes is co-producer and co-writer of A Growing Passion.  Marianne is an experienced television producer and writer with several PBS local and national PBS credits.  Her resume includes producing documentaries, news programs, series television, feature programs, and web programming for local, regional, and national public television and cable distribution. Her tasks on A Growing Passion include idea development, scripts, production coordination, managing field production and post-production activities including editing that will result in a finished television program ready for air.

Michael Gerdes is an award winning Director of Photography with more than 20 years of production experience, 10 of which were spent with KPBS San Diego Public Television.  Michael marries his technical expertise with an artistic vision and a love of all things that grow.  His images are beautiful and inspiring as is evident in the beautiful and romantic images he creates for A Growing Passion.
